Robert J. Lipsky (1928 – 2019)
VALATIE—Robert J. Lipsky, 91, of Kinderhook Lake passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Grand at Barnwell.
Born May 13, 1928 in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late William and Belle (Plotinski) Lipsky.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran with the First Marines, serving during the Korean War. He was a salesman for Tobin Packing Co. in Albany for 43 years. Upon retiring, he worked for Columbia County Solid Waste in Chatham.
Mr. Lipsky is survived by: his son, Thomas Lipsky (Maryanna) of Kinderhook Lake; a granddaughter, Victoria Lipsky; his companion, Missy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. (Van Amburgh) Lipsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 3, 2019, at St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial followed in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Columbia/Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Rd., Hudson 12534. Arrangements were with the Raymond E. John S. Pulver (1934 – 2019)
NORTH EAST—John “Jack” S. Pulver, 84, passed away at home Friday, May 31, 2019.
He was born December 13, 1934 and lived his life on Pleasant View Farm atop Winchell Mountain.
He attended Pine Plains High School graduating in 1953. He played varsity basketball and baseball and is also remembered as Prince Charming in his senior play.
He had farming and cows in his blood. He started exhibiting cattle with his lifelong friend, Harold Miller in 1944.
In 1951 he was a member of the FFA Judging team placing second in the national contest at Waterloo, Iowa. In ’52 he was the high individual in the New York State 4H Judging Contest. In 1955 he earned the FFA American Farmer Degree. After attending Cornell University, he returned to the family farm.
Mr. Pulver met Minajean “Jean” Ackert at the Dutchess County Fair in 1956; they were married November 24, 1957 and spent the next 60 years together. They attended more than 50 NYS Holstein Conventions together. Their favorite vacations were driving the Maine coast and treating themselves to lobster.
Mr. Pulver was an active member of many organizations for decades. As a 4H leader and more recently FFA advisor for decades, he influenced hundreds of young people.
At age 18 he was asked to join the Dutchess County Agricultural Society, his membership spanned 66 years with 45 years elected to the Board of Directors and he served decades as dairy superintendent. He was board president 1989 to 1990 and was honored for life achievement by the society in December 2018. His colleagues estimated he had attended more than 1,000 meetings on the fairgrounds.
He had been a member of the Pine Plains Lions Club since 1967 and in 2018 received a County Legislature proclamation for his 40+years of service as club treasurer following his presidency.
Mr. Pulver’s membership in Eastern New York (ENY), New York State, and National Holstein associations spanned more than 70 years. In the local club he held every office, was long- time co-chair of the ENY Sale, and chaired the ENY-USO Futurity Committee for 45 years. Mr. Pulver and his wife joined the ENY Club Honor Roll in 1992. At the state level he served as director and chaired the membership committee for years, completing Association service as chair of the by-laws and resolutions committee. He was the first person to receive the Friend of New York Holstein Award in 2007. In January 2018 he was honored with the state’s Retired Master Breeder Award.
Mr. Pulver was on the NorthEast Milk Producers Co-op Advisory Board and was part of the group that organized the Millerton Agway Co-op.
The family cattle herd under his stewardship received 9 Progressive Breeder Awards from the National Holstein Association. He bred 36 Excellent Cows and 6 Gold Medal Dams.
He took pride maintaining the farm grounds to befit its majestic views and promotion of agriculture, receiving Dairy of Distinction designation in its initial award year and each of the following 25 years.
He received 2 New York State Assembly Citations, the first with his wife for their service to the FFA upon their designation as honorary members in June 2014. The second in August 2016 for his lifetime commitment to Dutchess County’s Farming Heritage and 72 consecutive years of exhibiting at the fair.
Mr. Pulver is survived by: children, Mollie of Little Falls, Jeffrey and Linda of Millerton, Daniel and Lisa of North Reading, MA; granddaughters, Amanda, Valerie (Max), Cecily, Laura (Paul), Emilia, Jennifer and Madeline and companion Rex. Additional family members include Connie, Bonnie and Scott Pulver.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley and Mary; his wife Jean, May 11, 2017; son, Royce A. Pulver August 2, 1979 and brother, William W. Pulver September 26, 2005.
Calling hours are Wednesday, June 5, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor William Mayhew officiating.
Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.

Robert L. Cuerbo (1949 – 2019)
COVENTRY—Retired Detective Lieutenant Robert L. Cuerbo, 69, of Old Chatham, formally from Long Beach, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, June 1 2019, at his cherished hunting lodge.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary T. Cuerbo; his mother, Madeline Cuerbo; his sister, Joanne Caggiano; his three children, Erica Cuerbo, Alex Cuerbo and Amanda Cuerbo, as well as his grandson, Francescantonio Barone. Mr. Cuerbo dedicated 38 years of his life to the Nassau County Police Department, as well as 11 years to the Tri-Village Fire Department in Columbia County during his retirement. Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2019, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, in Chatham, with a reception to follow. He will be severely missed by his family, friends, and the community—near and far.
David S. Sagendorph (1948 – 2019)
HUDSON—David S. “Saggie” Sagendorph, age 70, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully from a brief illness May 29, 2019.
He was the son of Winfield and Helen Sagendorph, who both predeceased him. He was a graduate of Hudson High School and Albany Business College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Maryland. After the service, Mr. Sagendorph worked in his uncle’s welding shop for 23 years. He then finished his working career as head custodian at the John L. Edwards Elementary School.
One of his loves in life was his 30+ years as a volunteer firefighter with J.W. Edmonds Hose Company, No. 1. He previously served the company as captain and was the vice president for many years.
Mr. Sagendorph was a life-member of Hudson Elks Lodge #787. Throughout his life he remained a loyal fan of the Washington Redskins and NY Mets.
He is survived by: his wife and best friend, Carol Dimelow; his son, Scott Sagendorph (Toni Holze) and their children Kaleb and Blake; his daughter, Pamela DiStefano (Peter) and their children Joseph and Caronia; stepdaughter, Brenda Carver and her child Christa Whitbeck, mother of Paisley and Jamison; his brother and sister-in-law, Gregg and Julie Sagendorph; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Cedar Park Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.

Helen Enright (1923 – 2019)
GHENT—Helen Enright, age 96, of Ghent died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 8:40 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Deborah. Born January 14, 1923 in Monessen, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Kostenko Malinchak. She lived the past 20 years in Ghent.
She was a very gracious woman, a beloved wife, loving mother and devoted grandmother. She enjoyed working in her garden and landscaping around the property.
Mrs. Enright is survived by: her two daughters, Deborah Enright and Helen Enright, both of Ghent; three grandchildren, Luke Charles Tekverk, Nathaniel Tekverk, Samantha Enright; one sister, Laverne Bazilwich of Alamo, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Enright; son, Charles A. Enright, Jr.; three sisters, Anna Rubachko, Mary Stefanick, Olga Ferencz; five brothers, Andrew Mallin, John Mallin, Paul Mallin, Peter Malinchak and Nicholas Malinchak. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 3 from St. James Church, Chatham.

Traci L. Carello (1964 – 2019)
AMENIA—Traci Lee Carello, 54, a five-year resident of Amenia, formerly of Bristol, CT, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at her home.
Born August 4, 1964 in Bristol, CT, she was the daughter of the late George and Patricia (Tierny) Howe.
On April 4, 1987 in Whigville, CT, she married Richard M. Carello, who survives at home. She was a huge Neil Young fan and was passionate animal lover. She is survived by her dog, Chloe and her cat, Royal and she is now with her departed family members and her beloved pets.
In addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by: her daughter, Cassandra Siegenthaler and son-in-law, Peter Siegenthaler of Copake; her son, Richard M. Carello, II, of Bristol; her stepdaughter, Ashley (Matthew) Chamberland MD, of Lampasas, TX; a grandson, Greyson Chamberland and her two sisters, Debbie Cristofaro and Lori Howe.
