Patricia A. Northup (1957 – 2020)

VALATIE—Patricia Ann Northup, 62, of Elizaville died peacefully Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Grand at Barnwell where she was recently staying.

Born in Yonkers, July 3, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Susan (Ortz) Demian.

Ms. Northup was a teachers’ aide with the Center for the Disabled in Albany.

She will be missed by her loving family including: her son, Brandon Demian; daughter, Jennifer Northup; brother, Michael (Carol) Demian; sisters, Kathleen (Rick) Gauthier, Donna (Robert) Lange; grandchildren, Marrianna, Natalie and Noah Bellerose, Javonni Brown, Tavis and Isabella Demian.

Richard V. Christiana (1930 – 2020)

NORTH HILLSDALE—Richard V. Christiana, 89, of North Hillsdale passed away peacefully Thursday, February 27, 2020 after a short illness.

He was born in Hudson in 1930 to Margaret and Joseph Christiana of Craryville.

He milked cows on the family farm while growing up, and played football at the Roeliff Jansen Central School where he graduated in 1949. He later worked in the excavation business as the founder of Christiana Brothers in Craryville.

“Richie” loved all animals, and enjoyed hunting activities. He was quite an accomplished target shooter, and took part in many competitive target shooting events. He was a life-member of the NRA, Oxbow Club of Hillsdale, and the Grand Lodge of Masons for 50 years.

He also had a unique memory for historical events and places including the surrounding towns in Columbia County.

Mr. Christiana is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Geraldine “Che-Che” (Hunt) Christiana, as well as many good friends and relatives. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rosalie Christiana.

There will be a memorial gathering at the Hillsdale Firehouse, Saturday, March 7, 2020, 11 a.m. where friends can come to call and share memories.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Christiana’s name to the Hillsdale Fire Company, 9387 State Route 22, Hillsdale, 12529 or the Community Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 327, Copake 12516.
