CHATHAM – On June 26, emergency response vehicles will accompany Chatham High School’s Class of 2020 in a celebratory procession through the Village of Chatham immediately following their drive-through graduation ceremony that evening.
Due to social distancing guidelines, graduation will not be public, but the community is invited to watch the procession, show the graduates support, and decorate homes and businesses along the public viewing portion of the route, which will begin on Route 66 at the entrance to the Columbia Fairgrounds, proceed down Main Street and around the rotary to Kinderhook Street, take a left onto Woodbridge Avenue and end at School Road.
Since the school is doing graduation a little differently this year, they are not sure exactly how long graduation will take, and that will affect the start time of the procession. The procession will start no earlier than 7:30 p.m. and the school hopes to have it rolling sometime between then and 8 p.m.
For the safety of everyone, if you come out to watch the procession, please wear a mask and follow all social distancing guidelines, including staying at least six feet from others.
