George P. Cockcroft (1932 – 2020)

CANAAN—George Powers Cockcroft, 87, of Canaan passed away November 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home under the care of Hospice and his loving family.

He was predeceased by his older sister, Patricia (Cockcroft) Morgan, and his younger brother, James D. Cockcroft.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ann; his three sons, Corbett, Powers and Chris; three nephews; three nieces; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a wonderful extended family.

As Luke Rhinehart, he authored 11 books, most notably, “The Dice Man,” out in 27 languages, and still in print in most. He was also a sailor and a captain, happy feeling the sea under his feet and the wind in his hair—he loved an adventure. He always opened his heart and home to all he met and his enthusiasm for life was contagious. “Roll on, George!”
