Dale Rowe

Dale Rowe (1943 – 2021)

MELLENVILLE—Dale Rowe, 77, of Mellenville passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Born October 10, 1943 in Hudson, he was the son of Edward and Vivian (Myers) Rowe. A lifelong Columbia County resident, he graduated from Ockawamick High School in 1962. He continued his studies at SUNY Cobleskill, earning an associate degree in 1964.

Mr. Rowe worked for more than 40 years at the Columbia County Department of Health, serving as environmental health director for 20 of those years.

He was a life-member of the Mellenville Fire Company, serving as assistant chief, Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Association chairman, delegate to the county convention, and sergeant at arms of the color guard. He was also a former Taconic Hills School Board member, and board member of the Philmont Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, and loved his loyal companion, Rocky. He was also an accomplished artist known for his landscapes on saw blades.

He will be forever remembered by: his son, Sean and daughter-in-law Michele; daughter, Courtney Hutchings and son-in-law Dan; grandchildren, Madison, Zachary, Hunter, Jaxon, Ava, and Ella and nieces, Jessica Chiera and Jene Sena. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rowe was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Hamm) Rowe.

A celebration of his life to be held at the Philmont Rod & Gun Club will be announced. To honor his memory consider a donation to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.

James Antalek

James J. Antalek (1946 – 2021)

KINDERHOOK—James J. Antalek, 75, of Kinderhook passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home.

Born April 19, 1946 in Beacon, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Senchack) Antalek.

“Jim” was a graduate of RIT. He spent many years in the insurance industry as a loss claim representative but he most enjoyed his work as a school bus aide at Ichabod Crane. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, the Yankees and Giants, volunteering at Mac-Haydn Theatre, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Fay (Harding) Antalek; four children, Jennifer Kelly (Ian) of Kinderhook, John Antalek (Jennifer Boll) of Valatie, Jeffrey Antalek (Jeannette) of Chatham and James Antalek (Cheryl) of Valatie; four siblings, Rose Farrell, Andrew Antalek, Robert Antalek and Marie Smith, all of Beacon; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Madeline Kelly, Cameron Boll (Rebecca), Samuel and Henry Antalek, Jack, Jace and Jenna Antalek, Matthew and Ryan Antalek; one great-grandson, Benjamin Boll along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Elizabeth Russell and Eileen Shea.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 2, 2021, noon at the Church of St. Joseph in Stuyvesant Falls. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham or the Church of St. Joseph in Stuyvesant Falls.
