HILLSDALE The Town of Hillsdale was scheduled to hold a public gathering Thursday, April 21 at 3 p.m. at Town Hall on Route 23 to discuss a plan to extend and replace sidewalks and otherwise upgrade several streets in the town’s hamlet at the intersection of state routes 22 and 23.

At the session members of the town’s Project Advisory Committee will review the streetscape improvement plan that would affect portions of Cold Water, Anthony and Maple streets. The plan was designed by architecture, planning and engineering company CPL, hired by the town.

Photographic panels that depict the project will be shown at the meeting and remain on display at Town Hall for those unable to attend.

Among upgrades, the plan envisions replacing sidewalks on Anthony and Cold Water streets, which are deteriorated, as well as extending the Anthony Street sidewalk southward and to the west to wrap around the front of the Roe Jan Brewing Co. on White Hill Street.

The project would also replace and augment storm pipes, drains and catch basins on the three affected streets to ease water pooling during rainstorms, which is a persistent problem in the area.

Funding is expected to come largely from government grants.
