Red Cross aids 18 after Hudson fire

HUDSON—Volunteers from the Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to 18 people after a fire at 225 Allen Street, affected multi-families, Saturday, May 2 at 4:10 p.m.

Initially, the Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to seven adults and eight children, ages 2 through 14.

May 4, the Red Cross provided assistance to three additional people: one adult and two children, ages 5 and 8, bringing the total number assisted to 18. Read more…

Farmer killed when tractor, dump truck collide

GREENPORT—A farmer was killed when his tractor was hit by a dump truck at the intersection of State Route 9 and Yates Road, the afternoon of September 19.

Columbia County 911 dispatched State Police from the Livingston barracks to the two-vehicle crash at 2:04 p.m.

An investigation revealed than an International Harvester Farmall 1066 tractor operated by Stuart M. Meisner, 67, of Hudson was attempting to cross State Route 9 in a westerly direction from Yates Road. The tractor failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a southbound International Harvester dump truck on State Route 9. Read more…

Hudson man charged with rape of child, threatening her with knife

HUDSON—City police have arrested a local man on charges that he allegedly forcibly raped a young girl.

Jamel D. Brandow, 36, of Hudson was charged with first degree rape—forcible compulsion, child less than 11 years old, a class B felony; first degree unlawful imprisonment, a class E felony; second degree menacing—with a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors, by Hudson Police, May 5.

Knife incident in May leads to charges in October

HUDSON—An Albany man was charged by Hudson Police for allegedly holding a woman against her will.

Police arrested Najahliek Edmunds, 22, of Albany October 23, in connection with an incident at the Hudson Terrace Apartments that happened May 2.

Police say they got a call about a female being held against her will at 15 North Front Street, Apartment 3E (Hudson Terrace Apartments) and went there to investigate. Police arrived and were checking the apartment when they encountered Mr. Edmunds holding a large kitchen knife while standing in a dark room. He dropped the knife as ordered by police and was taken into custody. Read more…
