MELLENVILLE–COARC Contract Manufacturing is often overshadowed by its mission of “expanding abilities one person at a time,” offering supportive employment and on-the-job training to people with developmental disabilities so that they can get good jobs elsewhere in the community.

Now COARC has embarked on a new, multi-faceted green initiative driven by the desire to hone its competitive edge and to upgrade its existing facilities. The hope is that this initiative, combined with other user-friendly practices, will provide clients with earth-friendly services hard to duplicate elsewhere.

STEPHENTOWN–There are still spaces available for selling crafts at the
Stephentown Memorial Library Book/Bake/Tag Sale this weekend. 

Spaces are $25 or $20 plus an item for the Chinese Auction.  Tables can also be
shared by two crafters. Crafters must provide their own table and chairs. 

The sale is on July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Set up is at 8. The rain date is July 12.

VALATIE–The Valatie Community Theatre was the setting on Saturday evening, June 27, when V.E.R.A. (Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association) hosted its first Birdhouse Auction. Approximately 200 people attended the event that began with a 5 o’clock preview of handcrafted birdhouses with an auction following at 6 p.m.

The event featured 77 birdhouses designed and built by community members. The birdhouse artists ranged in age from 8 to 80, and in ability from amateur to professional.
