AUSTERLITZ—Harry F. McCagg, 85, died Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home in Austerlitz.

He was born in Sharon, Connecticut, March 27, 1935 to Harry A. and Hazel M. (Benedict) McCagg.

He was an Army veteran who served in Korea.

Mr. McCagg was employed by the Columbia County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1997. Read more…

TAGHKANIC—Steven Edward Dobrowski, 46, of Taghkanic passed away August 20, 2020 at his home.

“Steve” was born November 3, 1973 in Hudson to James and Deborah Dobrowski.

He first discovered his love for the outdoors at an early age and instantly developed a passion for hunting, fishing, trapping and everything the natural world had to offer. The family farm held a special place in his heart, and he loved vacationing in the Adirondacks. HUDSON—Benjamin James “B.J.” Cantele, 59, of Hudson passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 19, 1961 in Hudson, he was the son the late Benjamin E. Cantele and Eleanor (Baker) Cantele, who resides in Philmont.

He was a graduate of Taconic Hills High School, received his associate’s degree in business from Columbia-Greene Community College and went to trade school in Vermont for stone cutting. He was the owner of Cantele Memorials, Cantele Tent Rentals and Cantele Car Wash. Read more…

EAST TAGHKANIC—Mildred Jean Keyser, 84, of East Taghkanic passed away at home Saturday, August 15, 2020. Born May 20, 1936 in Fort William, Ontario, she was the daughter of Hugh and Mildred (Upper) Gallinger.

She was a meticulous homemaker and fabulous cook. She took great pride in keeping a spotless, pristine residence. Her community involvement included being a Cub Scout leader, a “Pink Lady” at Columbia Memorial Hospital, a member of the Junior Service League, Claverack Senior Citizens, and Sunday school teacher at the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack.
